Small Animal Days

All of our Rabbits and G.Pigs are fostered by dedicated animal carers across North Somerset.

On the 1st Saturday of the month all of our small animals are brought into the Brent Knoll Centre for the day.

The animals are on view for the day during our normal opening times 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4.30pm.

Staff will be on hand to give you any advice on how to care for the animals.

If you see an animal on the website that you are REALLY REALLY interested in then please call us as we can often make arrangements for you to meet that animal prior to a small animal day.

Next Small Animal Day - Sat 3rd April 2010

Page Updated 9th March 2010

Ted Ref WG4023

1 year old approx, Neutered Male.

Ted is a cute little agouti coloured, rosetted guinea pig.

This little chap is all on his own. He would love a little girlfriend.

Does anyone have a lonely girlie piggie or maybe even a pair of girls that Ted can make friends with?

Gus & Skipper Ref WG4028 & WG4029

6 month old, Males.

Gus - Left in Photo - Rosetted X, Agouti colour.

Skipper - Right in Photo - Rosetted X Longhair, Tri colour.

Bubble & Squeak Ref WG4113 & WG4114

1 year old, Females.

Bubble - Left in Photo - Ginger & White.

Squeak - Right in Photo - White & Cream.

This pair of sweet little girls are actually partially sighted/ have reduced vision. They can get around their indoor cage very well. They also love to go out in a run on grass when its warm!

Owners will need to keep everything in their cage and run in the same place so that the girls don't get confused!

Good to handle.

They really deserve a loving home, guinea pig experience would be ideal.

Suitable for Older Children / Teenage +

Guinea Pig Summer / Winter Care

During the cold WINTER months, piggies need to live somewhere indoors i.e. a garage, shed, utility area. They do not like getting cold.

In the nice SUMMER months they can live outside in a hutch (out of direct sunlight) and go out in a run in the day.

Can you DONATE a Hutch or Run?

All our guinea pigs are cared for by fosterers, this means we need accommodation for the piggies to live in.

If you have an un-used hutch or run of good quality and size, then can you DONATE it to us, PLEASE! If you can deliver it, that would be fantastic, otherwise we can sometimes collect.

The more accommodation we have, the more piggies we can help.

If you can help us, please give us a call on 01278 782671.

Hutches and Runs

The RSPCA has been campaigning for a better standard of living for small animals.

Hutches and runs are the most important part of this. We have guidelines regarding rabbit and guinea pig accommodation.

As far as we are concerned the BIGGER the BETTER!!   Converted sheds are great!

Guinea Pigs    (L x W x H)

 Hutch - 4ft x 2ft x 15''  / 120cm x 60cm x 38cm ( 8 sq ft /  0.74 sq m).

The sleeping area must be at least 1ft x 7''

Run -  4ft x 3ft x 15'' / 120cm x 60cm x 60cm  ( 12 sq ft).

PLEASE NOTE that these sizes are GUIDELINES and there will always be an element of flexibility providing good welfare standards can be maintained.

We understand that this can all be a bit confusing!

For more details or advice come to one of our Small Animal Days or give us a call on 01278 782671.
